A native of Worcester, Mass., she was the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Shea) Hine. Sister Maria Edward entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield in 1937 from St. Charles Parish, Pittsfield. degree from Assumption College, Worcester. She was pastoral assistant at St. Clement Church, Plaquemine, LA and later ministered in Senior Services at St. John the Evangelist Church in Plaquemine where she worked until a few months before her death. Sister was chaplain at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, and Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield. St. Joseph Academy in Rutland, Vermont; St. Charles, Bellows Falls; Sacred Heart and St. Francis de Sales in Bennington, Vermont. She earned an A.B. She will be waked from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m with a prayer service at 10:00 a.m. In addition to her Sisters in Community, she is survived by her siblings Mary Ann Boon of Gloucester Pt., VA; Noreen Gallagher Smith of Austin, TX; James F. Leary of Washington, DC; Denise Jones of Milwaukee, WI; Martin F. Leary of Vine Grove, KY; Frances Kollenz of Mulhauser, Germany; Therese Thornock of Phoenix, AZ; and Clare Decosmo of Ft. Myers, FL. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from St. Louis Parish, Webster in 1941. Sister Annette worked at Mont Marie as part of the support staff for the Conference Center and for Weston Rehab Associates. From 1971-79 she served as President of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield and from 1979-1993 as President of the College of Our Lady of the Elms. The property includes a licensed, skilled-nursing facility that accepts members of the public, as well as two U.S. Housing and Urban Development-funded senior residences for low-income individuals and couples . She was a member of the faculty and administration at the former St. Joseph College in Bennington, VT and served as President from 1966-70. Sister also taught in the GAL Adult Literacy Program in Ludlow. degree from The College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee, and did graduate study in mathematics at the University of Maryland, Western Illinois University, and the State University of New York at Oneonta. In addition to her Sisters in Community, she is survived by her sisters Lillian Marie Poitras of Fall River and Antoinette Marie Aubin of Westport, Mass. Sister Cecilia taught in the Diocese of Springfield at Cathedral Grammar, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and St. Matthew, all in Springfield, and St. Joseph High School, Pittsfield. In addition to engaging in her formal ministries, Sister Catherine earned the title of Master Weaver from the Hill Institute, Florence, MA and received numerous awards for her work. She was graduated from Sacred Heart High School and earned an A.B. So long as we live, they too shall live, for they are a part of us. from Catholic University of America, Washington, DC.
